Boo is an IELTS Academic practice service run from Istanbul, Türkiye. Right now Boo is at the early access stage, so this website collects a waiting list and contact messages. This page explains what we collect, why, and what you can ask us to do.

Who we are

Boo is run from Istanbul, Türkiye. In this policy, "Boo", "we" and "us" mean the people who run the service. You can reach us at any time through the contact page.

What we collect

We only collect what you give us, plus one small technical record.

Your email address, when you join the early access list.
The language of the site when you joined, and the page you joined from.
A referral code, if a friend invited you, and your own code so you can invite others.
Your target band, test month and country, only if you choose to answer those questions.
Your name, email address, topic and message, when you write to us through the contact form.
A salted hash of your IP address. This is a one-way code made from your address, so we can stop abuse such as one visitor sending hundreds of sign-ups. We do not store the address itself.

Why we collect it

Each piece of information has one job.

To send your invite when your place opens, and a few updates about Boo.
To plan teacher time and the languages we support, using your optional answers.
To reply to your messages.
To protect our forms from spam and abuse.

We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not make automated decisions about you.

We do not sell your information, and we do not rent or trade it. It is stored on the servers that run this website. We share it with no one else, unless the law requires us to.

How long we keep it

We keep your early access details for as long as you stay on the list. Contact messages are kept for up to 12 months after the conversation ends, so we can follow up. When you ask us to delete your information, we delete it within 30 days.

Your choices

You can ask us at any time to show you the information we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it. Write to us through the contact page using the email address you joined with. You can also ask to leave the list and nothing else.

Cookies

This website sets one cookie, NEXT_LOCALE, which remembers the language you chose. It holds only a language code, such as en or ar. We do not use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies. If that changes, we will update this page first and ask for your consent where the law requires it.

Changes to this policy

This policy will change as Boo grows, for example when the app opens and accounts arrive. When we make an important change, we will update the date at the top of this page and tell people on the list by email.
